Jason thrashs as Dick scoops him into his arms, pain thrumming through him. “Wait, wait,” he gasps. “There’s a bomb!”
“That’s why we’re running, Little Wing!"
“But Sheila’s still in there! We can’t just leave her! Please!” He pleads, tears dripping down his face. “It’s my mom, Dick. My mom.”
Dick bends down and gently places Jason down on the freezing, snow-covered ground. He looks over his shoulder one last time at the ominous warehouse before turning back to Jason. “Okay, okay,” he tells him. “I’ll go get her. Don’t move, you hear me? Don’t move. B will be here soon. I’ll be right back.”
And then he turns on his heel and runs back into the warehouse.
(Jason doesn’t even have the chance to say goodbye. He doesn’t think he needs to.)
