Summary
“It was you,” he says again. Only this time, he doesn’t phrase it as a question. “You saved me.”
Flins closes his eyes, leaning into his touch with a sigh, the sound leaving him like the last bit of his resistance.
“Do you think me a monster?” He asks, bending down a fraction.
“I think,” Illuga says, coming up on his toes, searching his face as if he could see the beautiful and terrible reality lying beneath. “I didn’t much mind the feeling of dying, if it was in your arms.”

Summary
Flins cannot claim to be a cruel man, but much like his kind, entertainment and suffering seem to go hand in hand. At least, not in the traditional sense. Watching a merchant squirm in place, fretting under his guidance—truly a splendid pastime, with both parties benefiting. The entertainment he sought, and the protection bestowed upon his benefactor for the hour—a fair exchange.
An equivalent exchange. Much like how night gave way to the day, it only made sense for him to yield with pleasure, should the time come. The value of things is not easily settled with mora alone.
There is only one thing left for Flins to collect.

Summary
“But first, answer me, young master. You’re an augury bird, correct?”
“Yeah!” The young man smiles shyly. “But I warn you: I can’t predict your future. I only know events that will happen to me.”
“And how is it? your future.”
The young man falls silent, lowering his eyes, framed by long light lashes. His wings flutter.
“...I will meet a wonderful person with whom I will walk until the end of my life... But that won’t happen until the next millennium. In about six hundred years...?”
“Well then,” Flins says with that light smile behind which he hides everything he is not supposed to show. “I wish for those six hundred years to pass unnoticed for you, like a free wind across the fields.”
The augury bird predicts a happy future, linking two destinies.
