She took a slow breath and prepared herself to dive in when she caught another glimpse of herself in the setting sunlight that bounced gently off of the ripples of water her tears made: she saw a woman. A woman who made bad decisions and was still carrying the burden of her forebears. She saw a woman who couldn’t let go.
