The air is heavy, warm summer evening made even warmer inside the claustrophobic front room of the dingy two-story conversion. Dim light glints golden through the smoky haze of the bar. The band is good, heavy bass thumping inside her chest, cracked plaster ceiling above the stage raining dust over the performers whenever the music swells too loud. It’s sweaty, lively. Just the way she likes it. There are people dancing, making out in corners, loudly over-exaggerating tales of far off galaxies, thoroughly enjoying their night off.

She’s tiny, her long golden hair tied up in a ponytail with a gingham ribbon like she’s on her way to debutante brunch. Her oven mitts have little apples printed all over them, and she smells like vanilla sugar, although Jack isn’t sure she’s even used any on the pie.
She might be an alien.

All Cody wanted from the Jedi was a competent, fair general; so that he could focus on keeping his men safe, and maybe trying to live up to the name Jango Fett had bestowed on him.
Nothing could have prepared him for Kenobi save for the experience itself: crashing across the galaxy, from caf-and-stims-fueled battlefield highs down to heady fluorescent ship-side lows.
But then, he supposes, this war had a habit of exceeding his expectations, in all the best and worst ways. This is that story through Cody's eyes.
