Summary
Daphne stays on the balcony. She fretted and planned and braced herself for this very conversation. She was going to speak first and tell him a relationship between them would never happen, but then Dr. Crane went first and denied himself without Daphne having to say a word.
Because he loves her. The words she’s spent the past week denying suddenly sound so much more believable. Of course Dr. Crane wouldn’t try to steal her away from her fiancé. He’s honorable and kind and respectful—
— and he loves her.
Too late, Daphne realizes he left his jacket with her. She’s no longer shivering, but she draws the lapels tighter around her shoulders. Perhaps she’s not shivering because her body is now too frozen to move. She feels hollowed out inside. Disappointed.
Heartbroken.

Follow-up to the 7.16 tag. Niles returns to Daphne’s room after Martin's interruption and offers to read to her again. He stretches out their time together even though it only raises the likelihood that he’ll slip up and say something he shouldn’t, something like he loves her, like he wishes she weren’t engaged.
He never expected her to slip up first.

Summary
A season 4/Tenth Doctor era rewrite that reunites Rose with the Doctor a bit earlier and sidesteps the metacrisis/Donna losing her memories. While the main focus is on Rose getting to spend the rest of her life with the Doctor, I'll also be exploring new storylines with Martha and Donna as I guide them to new end games. (For Martha, that will be her quiting UNIT and joining up with Ace's work. Donna's new end game is still up in the air.) In addition to the S4 finale rewrites, I'm also planning a 50th anniversary rewrite, another crossover with Thirteen's crew, and lots of general Ten/Rose goodness. Stay tuned!
