I've got to kick this habit now or else I never will.
Of course, Veronica's not the only one addicted.
AKA maybe it's not too late for JD, maybe love really will win

"I have to," he admitted, slowly letting her go. "Remind me why we hang out here, again?"
"Because my parents get weird about us making out on the couch" she answered. "Also, we were talking about murder and they actually pay attention."
His mouth twisted at the reminder of their fight, fear that she'd leave him creeping down his spine, before the revving of the car engine broke into his thoughts. "You should go."
"Come back to me," she ordered, her hands twisted in his t-shirt. "You are mine."
Floored, he stared down at her - this girl who barely came up to his shoulder. It had been eight years since anyone had ever wanted him.
He'd already told her, but he didn't know if she fully understood he was an unsheathed blade and he'd placed himself in her hand.
Pulling her into a quick kiss, he saw her out before heading to the car. His father grumbled at having to wait for him and he braced himself for the next time they got out of the car. Still, as he settled in to the passenger side, he felt he'd somehow dodged a bullet, though he couldn't quite put his finger on how.
It was dark by the time the job was done. His father headed straight for the fridge and the TV was blaring by the time he snuck out the back door.
"Knock, knock," he called softly, lifting himself through the open window. She lay on her bed, stirred drowsily at his voice. "Were you waiting for me?"
Recognition flickered in those eyes and then she was standing in front of him. Her gaze sharpened, and he knew she'd picked up how carefully he was standing. "Are you okay?"
The answer was always no, but that didn't feel right to say with her here, pushing his trenchcoat off his shoulders and lifting his t-shirt to check him over in the light from the streetlight outside. He felt, rather than heard, a hiss of breath as she found the bruise on his ribs, and tried to shrug. "The old man didn't like that I made him wait." Gently removing her hands, he pulled his t-shirt back into place and slid his hands down to her hips to tug her closer to him. He could feel her shaking as he ran his hands up and down her back. “I’m used to it.”
"I hate him, I hate him, I hate him," she cried into his chest, her fingers tightening on his top. "I wish he'd disappear."
"We could make that happen," he offered, and felt her tense. His heart shipped a beat when it seemed like, for a second, she actually thought about it, before she sighed.
"We can’t, he's your dad-"
He scoffed. "He's a piece of -"
She cut him off. "No, I mean - you're still underage. Anything happens to him and you head into the foster system."
His shoulders slumped as she picked out why exactly he’d never considered it an option before. Bud was awful, but until recently he’d been better than the alternative. "Okay, so we wait until I'm eighteen. He'll be gone, and can't hurt us any more."

Antonio sets his flowers on the island, rounding it to politely get the man’s attention, “Excuse me, but you wouldn't happen to know where Lovino is do you?”
He swears he see’s the man freeze, and Antonio is about to apologize for scaring him, but then the oven closes and the stranger stands up, turning around to see that it’s no stranger at all. The sight of him gives him whiplash, forcing him to use the counter to keep him up straight. He’s taller, leaner, and for heaven’s sake much more grown up.
Those familiar hazel eyes stare back at him, for a second with yearning, then with a hint of humor. "I might know who that is."
Oh and his voice is deeper, richer, and it sends a embarrassing flush to his cheeks because for holy shit it’s attractive. Lovino laughs- oh god his laugh is music to his ears- and after wiping his hands on a dish towel, he actually advances towards Antonio, and gives him a tight hug.
Antonio reflexes kick in and he’s embracing him back, holding him close and inhaling his scent of cologne and a hint of mint, amazed that this man- his Lovino was this handsome and beautiful person in his arms.
"Alright, alright." Lovino breaks from the hug but keeps a hand on Antonio’s shoulder, arching an eyebrow, "Well aren’t you going to say anything?"
Antonio is jostled at that, and blurts, “Hello!” "Hello." Lovino smiles, "Nice to see you again." "I-" Antonio shakes his head and the gears in his system turn, because he’s smiling, he’s feeling happy and excited, and shocked, and there might be tears prickling his eyes. "You! Your voice! Your entire self I can't believe it!"

Summary
"I remember everything!" he snarls, loud enough to make her flinch. "How you move— the way you breathe—" His words hitch on a strangled half-sob; he stares at her like a man caught in a waking dream as he skims the line of her jaw with his knuckles, stopping to touch the pad of his thumb to her bottom lip. "How your eyes met mine in the starlight," he continues through a broken, haunted rasp of a voice, "and I felt like the look on your face."

whatever happened between them, it was heart wrenching. for the love they tried so hard to deny, for Luke and for many thing else.
the writing style was absolutely beautiful.
