Alastor snaps his neck back 180°. He heard movement. He freezes, waits. The world holds its breath in solidarity.
Nothing moves.
Almost a minute of stillness passes before Alastor makes a single step. Not a run, even a brisk walk would be too generous of a descriptor, but he's moving and that's what matters.
He wishes he had a set of eyes on the back of his neck. Maybe then it wouldn't feel like someone is breathing against it.
This was a bad idea.

Summary
In an instant, all the lights and electronics within the lounge shut off, bathing the room in absolute darkness. Alastor’s crimson dials were initially the only sources of light that could be seen, up until his chin was forcefully grabbed and his gaze was wrenched up and bathed in the bright, electric blue glow of Vox’s screen.
“Sorry, Alastor,” Vox chuckled, his layered voice becoming the only thing Alastor could hear other than the sounds of his own rapid breathing and pounding heart. “Your operating system’s obsolete.”
Alastor caught sight of that large, twisting red eye, and like that, he was trapped.
No matter how much his body struggled, his gaze was longer able to break away from that swirling crimson pit. “Vox—!”
“So!” The clawed hand moved around Alastor’s throat to shut him up before he could finish his plea. Vox’s grin was manic. “We’re gonna get inside that head of yours and make a few changes!”
