He’s twenty-six and he’s bleeding out on the ground and he’s so, so cold.
But, he’s also twelve and he’s still alive. Still breathing steadily. There’s no blood leaking out of him. And he’s warm, body relaxed under the comforting weight of his blanket.
He sighs, world-weary and exhausted. Of course it didn’t stick. Only he would manage to screw up death. Again.

Waking up in a different universe is supposed to be a sweet deal. Too bad nobody gave him the message. In a world of tailed-beasts and magical eye bullshit, Rei thinks getting strong without them is impossible. But he has to try. If only so he can mess with people and stay alive long enough to continue doing it.

Summary
It is startling, how quickly the roar of an excited crowd can cut to silence. The air is sucked out of the room, like it leaves with Shane’s consciousness. The rink is a fishtank lit like a stage, and he is drowning in it. Ilya distantly realises he is holding his breath. He slows to a stop, all his senses turned towards the prone form crumpled on the ice. He hears distantly a whistle, people are yelling.
Ilya knows with a certainty this is not a hit a player gets up from.
So why, then? Do his eyes watch as Shane’s limbs twitch to life, a wretched gasp wracking through his chest is visible even from under the padded jersey. A conflicting mix of relief and dread bubble up in Ilya as an elbow braces on the ice and Shane’s neck shifts to lift his head. The arm he’s not favouring is held at an angle that suggests he’s hurt. He is facing away, Ilya desperately wishes he could see his face.
-Shane gets hit badly on the ice and Ilya gets caught between his teeth in the aftermath. A feral hostage negotiation ensues (the league throws Ilya to the Shane wolf and he has to figure it out)

After the disaster of the Second World War, the Big Three Olympians - Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades - swore a Pact on the Styx to refrain from siring anymore demigod children both due to the power they wielded as their birthrights as well as fear of the Great Prophecy.
Too bad that the Olympians sucked - big time - at keeping it in their pants.
Fast forward to the early nineties: Sally Jackson goes into labor with who all logic said would be a son of Poseidon. After all, in none of the myths or legends had the God of the Sea sired a demigod daughter. Too bad that just like her twin brother, Elissa Jackson lived to defy both the gods and expectations...
