Summary
Every story has a middle. It’s a point when everything changes, it’s a line where you can say here is a before and there is an after.
He turns. Agni’s rays are pouring through the high windows, obscuring his opponent in a cloak of shadows. He is nothing but a gloomy figure in the distance and Zuko readies himself for a fight.
It’s all a bit of a second, blink of an eye.

Summary
They were his elders. For them, numbers on the maps were just that, numbers. Pawns to use in their game of power.
For him, he saw boy warriors, scared, but full of hope and dreams. He saw Lu Ten, proud and idealistic, waving back to him, lopsided grin on his face, unaware he marches to his own death. He saw the boy with empty eyes and he knows he’s 18, knows of his younger sister, his plans to become teacher in the small vilage of his home.

And down below, behind the doors which locked to seem just like carving in the marble pavement, was resting place of those who stood above the nation of Fire, below Agni’s merciful hand, before the eternal Flames. Strong, dignified, fierce. Not really gods, but something more than human. And in this place laid final proof of their humanity. The Dragonbone Catacombs, crypt of the Fire Lords, those who shared blood of the Dragons and Sun.
