The lock clicked, and the door slid open a second later. Immediately, the metallic scent was clogging his nostrils. He started to chase the taste it left behind before his nose registered the hidden sweetness in it.
Fuck, Kevin.
His eyes were still closed, but he pressed them firmer together. It was all too much, and he couldn’t stop his mouth from falling open and chasing it. His heart was pounding, in hunger or fear, Jean wasn’t sure, but he couldn’t let it get further.
He couldn’t hurt Kevin.

His eyes were closed, and his face was tilted towards the moon with a light smile. For a moment it was just this. The two of them at the window, relishing in the moonlight with a calmness they hadn’t had a few minutes ago. Then Jeremy opened his eyes, the moonlight reflecting in his brown eyes, and Jean was gone.
“I missed you.” He didn’t mean to say it. It slipped out at the way Jeremy was looking at him. With so much trust and admiration. He never stood a chance at nonchalance.

After the girls and Jean moved, Jeremy and Jean got separated bedrooms. Not being used to sleeping alone while they were both home, they both have trouble falling asleep. The only solution was to sleep in the same bed.

For some reason Kevin had to think of his mother. Of her reassuring smile, the way she would hug him and help him up. It would probably scare Jean if he tried to hug him now, and the smile didn’t work. So Kevin had to try another method his mother used.
He touched Jean’s outstretched hand and brought it closer to him, completely aware of Jean’s eyes following his every move. When it was close enough, he leaned down to meet the bruised wrist and grazed his lips against it.
It was a soft kiss, barely even noticeable, but Jean let out a soft gasp and tensed up for a second.or: After Riko hurts Jean, the only way Kevin can think of to calm him down is to kiss his bruises. It seems to help, so he keeps doing it.
