Summary
Something feels different this time, though, once you’re in front of his door. It’s usually quiet on the other side of the door, and once you’re in, Yuuta will be looking up from a book or whatever he’s engrossed on at the moment to greet you. This time, however, there’s a creak, something struggling under pressure, followed by the voice you had been looking forward to hear all along calling out your name with strain.
Alarms ring in your head, and you immediately brace yourself for the worst. He sounds like he is in trouble, under attack, even, as the creaking and struggling continues. Could he have called for you knowing you were there so you would assist him? Something unpleasant pools at the pit of your stomach at the idea of him in any real danger, and before your mind can formulate a more logical scenario, your body moves, pushing the door open with haste.

But each time you find yourself being cut short from the cusp of your desires, you find your growing frustration harder and harder to swallow.
And now, in this very moment, standing by the doorframe he so casually rests a hand on, greeting you the same way he did the day before, the day before that, and all the other previous days, the metaphorical lid you’ve put on said frustrations is about to burst.
Normally you’d just let yourself in and respond “I’m here.” Today, you stand there, feet planted on the ground and look him straight in the eye, asking, “Why haven’t we kissed yet?”
Had you given Yuuta a mouthful of molten lava, his face might’ve been less red than it had turned just then. “Huh?”
