Viktor knows now that the hexcore has made a connection with him that is unlike the relationship between it and the plants. His own biological matter was much more appealing. The hexcore has tasted blood, his blood, and somehow Viktor knows deep down that it wants. It’s capable of that now, of wanting.
There's a magnetic pull that grows with proximity- the closer Viktor dares to reach, the stronger it gets, and he doesn’t know how long he can keep from giving into it.
“Not me.” Viktor hisses at it, as if it could be sentient.
“Him.”

Summary
Obi-Wan always wanted another Padawan after Anakin, and when he was on Christophsis, he thought he would get one. The Force had other plans. That was how it played out. But what if it went differently?
On their way to Christophsis to aid Senator Organa, the 212th make a pit stop on Kamino to resupply with troops, and their general makes a startling discovery. In Tipoca City, about to be decommissioned for failing combat exams, is a Force-sensitive clone cadet. Cutting it close, Obi-Wan swoops in and snaps him up, taking the boy as his new Padawan learner, altering his own fate and that of the clones.
This is the story of the clone cadet that became a Jedi, how Obi-Wan learned his own happiness mattered, and how Cody managed to show the galaxy that the clones were more than meat droids made for war along the way.

Alfred's smile is sad, his eyes suddenly damp. "No, my boy. I believe you came to us that way all on your own."
