Summary
The door to Jack and Dana’s bedroom is cracked, soft light spilling into the dark hallway, and Robby pauses, some nearly-forgotten prayer silently spilling past his lips as he takes a deep breath and pushes the door open.
His heart slams against the center of his sternum as he finds Jack sitting on the end of the bed, his prosthetic at his left side and one of his handguns at his right. Robby swallows thickly and steps into the room—moving slowly but deliberately. Jack doesn’t even look at him, just blankly stares at the wall with a worn look on his freckled face, even as Robby says, “You know, I’m not sure if Dana would forgive either of us if you shot yourself and ruined her favorite set of sheets.”
As Dana sends Robby to check on Jack, he finds more than what he bargained for.

Summary
Robby was used to coming up to the roof. By this point in time, the way the early morning hit against the rooftop, sparkling across the concrete, was a decoration he was used to. It made the place look encrusted at times, catching on broken bottles that never got cleaned up, on rocks that somehow stayed up here, only amplified by the way gold foiled over everything.
It was gorgeous, on days when he actually had shifts. When he hadn't been called and texted by John, who told him something was wrong with Jack today. That they got too many cases that hit Jack right in the chinks in his armor, arrowheads to sensitive gaps, and by the end of the night, John had stayed on the roof for the fifteen minutes it took Robby to get here.
Or; Robby gets called by Shen that Jack's on the roof, and he's standing way too close to the edge for comfort. Eventually, they go home, and Robby takes care of Jack so sweetly.
