Summary
Tony's abrasiveness ruffles feathers; he knows this. But the other Avengers still only seem to treat him well when he's been hurt in the line of duty. If bleeding is all he needs to do, what's another injury, really? Too bad that comes across as his being a reckless liability.
"Was this what family actually meant?
"With his good hand, he clutched his broken arm to his chest like it was something precious. Maybe this was the heart-proof they needed. Maybe that was what he had been doing wrong up until now. More than likely it was only a piece; systems as complex as human relationships always relied on multiple factors. If through nothing else, he'd learned that while building Jarvis. Trial and error had taught him that. But even so, sometimes, after a certain level of complexity, a butterfly can flutter its wings in a distant country and touch everything. Change everything."

"He couldn't tear his gaze off his little brother lying in that bed. To look away meant he might disappear; he might up and dissolve in all the ways that mattered."

Summary
“And— you were always this. You were always a, a vampire.”
Matt’s eyes tear up from where he’s sprawled on the couch. His pallor is almost sickly, now that Foggy’s looking closer, but it could also just be all the blood loss.
“It sounds bad,” Matt whispers. “It sounds bad, but I would never hurt you. I would never hurt you, or Karen. I’d starve myself first.”
His pleading tone barely registers—Foggy can only hear the confirmation of a terrible truth.

Summary
Dropping his bag to the couch, Foggy turned toward the half closed bedroom door. To the left the bathroom light was still nonexistent, but there were to his eyes no dead vigilantes inside. His eyes flicked instead toward the bed, which was empty, naturally, the silk sheets twisted and draping off to the far side by the window. Light streamed, as it always did at all hours of the day and night, and Foggy noticed with a start five pale toes peeking out from under the cascade of sheets. In two quick strides he was at the far side of the bed, standing over a very tangled, very pathetic Matthew Murdock.
“What the actual fuck, Matt.”
