Summary
Frank's mission to take down a corrupt scumbag in Hell’s Kitchen gets interrupted by Matt. Frustrated and fed up, he tells Matt to stay away. Matt keeps his distance for a bit, but when Frank’s mission goes south and he’s captured, Matt intervenes.
Update 9/24 - received a DM from a moot that this fic should be rated M for violence and gore instead of T, so upon abundance of caution, I updated it.

“I am serious, Frank. Someone hurt you badly, I can tell.” Red mutters, hands continue to wander with urgency. The longer they spend on Frank’s body, the more distressed the younger man appears. His brain is in overdrive, rapidly analyzing every bit of abnormality he can detect from Frank’s physiology. “Broken ribs here, trauma to the chest……lung puncture?” Matt Murdock’s expression goes blank, his fingers freezing in their path as his mind puts together the pieces.
“Frank……you nearly died a few days ago, didn’t you?”

Summary
His weak point was too easy to find. Never himself, but the people he cared for. The people he loved, despite all his defences. Somehow they’d managed it again. Found one of the few idiots in New York stupid enough to love him back, or at least care and left him bleeding just out of reach. Left him there for Frank to spiral analysing the wounds, reading the story of pain written there in meticulous detail.

Or, what if Matt hadn't listened to Karen and gone into Red Hook anyway. Leaving him badly injured and forcing Frank to face his feelings in the process of saving them both.

When he scoots closer, turns him over and presses himself to his back, there's a split second when he’s convinced that Red’s gonna bolt. Then, surprisingly, he goes all boneless and actually fucking hums, and it’s like - like he’s a cat that’s finally being petted. Careful to avoid the wound on his ribs, he drapes his arm around him, closed fist on his chest. He’s not gonna paw at him.
Red wiggles and sighs and wiggles some more. He wraps his frozen palm around Frank’s arm and presses his cold feet to Frank’s shins. Frank doesn’t really mind.

The next time Red loses his hearing, Frank’s there for him.
