Summary
Gadreel’s home kingdom is embroiled in a civil war, which allowed him to escape and travel west to Winchester, a small mountain kingdom that has passed through many rulers in the past hundred years. It is currently ruled by a small house of storied huntsmen, although Gadreel knows none of this, having been imprisoned for more than a decade. He struggles to abide by the knight’s code, despite his desperate state.
The Princes of Winchester reluctantly accept him as a companion on their quest to save Sam’s life from a terrible curse, and to save their kingdom from becoming a overrun by opposing armies.

Ghost didn’t smirk. Didn’t pull away even an inch. His eyes beneath the mask remained terrifyingly serious — black, unblinking voids devoid of even a trace of amusement.

“It’s he Scot he wants,” one said to another. The other made his ignorance of accents known before the first started describing Johnny.
Why Johnny? Ghost thought, listening to average markers like “shorter” and “mohawk” before the guy got to Johnny’s “fine little ass” that Graves “wanted to take a bite out of.”
The rest of the night was filled with hot, selfish fury, whiting out during kills and keeping constant tabs on Johnny. He led them toward the church, toward a perch, somewhere he knew he’d be able to take control of the situation, get Johnny out.
He almost made it to the church steps. He heard Johnny calling his name before the bastards drove Soap back. Ghost was pinned on his back when he roared for Johnny to take a vehicle and get out.
