    Cliff Marleau never imagined he'd find himself in Ottawa. Recovering from an injury and released by the team he thought he’d retire from, he tells himself it could be worse. He still gets to play hockey, even if it is in Canada's most boring city. His team is good. His captain is his best friend. So what if the nightlife is lacking and he's feeling a bit lonely? It could be worse.

    Then Andrei Rozanov turns up out of nowhere, desperate and dripping on his brother’s porch. Begging for help Ilya is not willing to give.

    A good deed lands Cliff in the middle of the Rozanov family drama, caught between his captain and a man he only just met but cannot help wanting to protect. For the first time in his life, he’s met someone he wants to keep. Someone who makes him want impossible things. Someone who feels like home. He's determined to bridge the gap between the brothers, but with the ugly voice of his own father echoing in his head and the end of his hockey career shadowing his every step, Cliff isn't sure he can be the man that Andrei needs. There are so many ways it could go wrong.

    But if there is even the slimmest hope of it going right, Cliff is going to chase it with all the ferocity he brings to the ice.

    Ilya scoffs as if it’s offensive to even question him about it. “Of course. One is Jules and one is Florian,” he says instead of answering the actual question. He gestures towards one twin and then the other, hoping he remembers it correctly.

    Ilya prides himself on his ability to remember names and faces so well. Then the Centaurs just had to draft identical twins.

    Finally, something dawns on him, a way to handle two goals simultaneously. He’d seen Hollander’s mother flipping through papers rapidly when they first got here, seeming calm and in control and more than a little frightening in a way that made Ilya mildly glad he wasn’t one of the people responsible for a clipboard. If anyone can tell him if the long list of “Prohibited Items” he’d been sent in his email a few days ago is just standard practice for big shoots, it would be Yuna Hollander.

    Or, hopefully, her son.

    “Crazy we cannot even have peanut butter, eh?” He asks. “You also got giant list?”

    Hollander stiffens, almost imperceptibly, and Ilya tilts his head, just slightly, confused, wondering if he’s stumbled somewhere unexpected.
