Summary
Ever since waking from the coma, some stubborn part of him had continued clinging onto the desperate possibility that none of this was real. Even after Magnus told him they were married, even after the doctor explained the diagnosis. Even during the drive home, up until earlier when he was walking through this unfamiliar house that was supposedly his own life, part of Hikaru still convinced himself that somehow, some way, there was still a chance that none of this was real, that he was never married to Magnus at all. Maybe this was a horrible dream he’d soon wake up from. Maybe this was some kind of cruel, elaborate joke Magnus was still playing. In his mind, he desperately prayed it was. But now, standing in the middle of the bedroom and staring at his own face glowing with unmistakable happiness, that last fragile sliver of hope had entirely crumbled to dust.
This marriage was real.
Magnus was truly his husband.
