In a mystery of events, Maya and Alastor are the only two overlords to be transported into a perfect image of New Orleans. The 1930s, so familiar and identical to what Alastor remembers-- and completely new terrain for Maya. Is it a trap or a transportation? Or something else entirely? Neither of them know the answer to this. And after discovering one another in the city, chaos ensues as they are quick to blame the other for the current predicament. Death ensues at the hands of one another, only to reset them to the very beginning of their arrival. With death loops now evident, they have some excuse to take out their irritations on each other ---before (begrudgingly) coming to work together to figure out what new kind of fresh hell they've landed in.

2039: Detroit, USA.
Emma "Vade" Pence is a Public Relations Chief that's been hired to work at the DPD. Society begins (and continues) its transition into more appropriate living and working conditions, catering to android rights. Keeping things cool, collected, and maintained, while the city hurdles toward new challenges, accommodations, and opportunities, is Vade's job. Getting paid to maintain the media for the DPD-- where the disputes and disruptions are handled first-hand across Detroit. But with a sudden influx in crime, the precinct becomes a ground for havoc, with officers trying to figure out what's causing such an uprise in criminal activity in the midst of social corrections.
Juggling media and work relations and while struggling to grasp personal (and oblivious) affections: Vade must decide what route to take when the core of these new problems turns the city onto its head. Silently wondering if Detroit will ever catch a break.

Summary
After the reset of Arcadia, (Rott), Jim leaves the amulet purposefully for someone else to find. Thus giving the second chance of the timeline to fall into another's hands. In the movie's end we see it fall to Toby.
But when a splitting headache wakes Winlow from her sleep, she sees flashing images of the timeline before it's reset in her waking eyes.
Seeing Kanjigar fall to Buular, she runs to the canals and finds the amulet. Taking on the mantle of Trollhunter in a turn to make the timeline better.
Jim is the only other person who fully & distinctly remembers things from before the reset. Managing a mostly-normal life, Jim becomes a backseat, hands off council to Winlow as she rises to the mantle of Trollhunter. Here’s to the glory, and to the risks, of keeping peace on this second chance.

There was something wrong with how easily I locked the door. Even as she thrashed on the floors outside, screaming and pleading in the hall as Plaguers flooded in.
There was something terrible that hatched inside of me, as I sat comfortably on the couch within the flat, and listened to the guts leave her corpse.And there was something awful with how quickly I forgave myself for doing it.
