Helpless, hopeless, and understanding that he wasn't going to be getting any more answers from Tsukishima this morning, He stands up and attempts to catch Tsukishima’s surprised eyes in a hard glare. “Fine then! Be that way!”
His sudden yell scratches at his throat uncomfortably. He hates everything about this situation.
The stunned Tsukishima sits on his wooden dining chair, and watches the other stomp his way to their shared room, slamming the door harshly behind him. It almost served as a silencer for the whole world– the birds don't chirp outside the kitchen window anymore, and their neighbours TV can't be heard through their thin walls.
Tsukishima swallows saliva down, thinking about the interaction in a little more detail.
…He might’ve messed up.
In which Tsukishima learns that he can't say that Yamaguchi is too good for him without implying the opposite is also true.

Tsukishima is the first to talk. “I didn't know you had the words in you, your majesty, but you did it.”
Kageyama doesn't react the way he usually would, and instead a small smile makes its way on his face. “I didn't know either.”
The silence between them is nice and cool on Kageyama’s warm and bright red skin, but then suddenly there's an arm wrapped around his shoulders and he’s getting pulled into a side hug by Yamaguchi with a small snicker.
What a day.

November 10th, Yamaguchi Tadashi’s birthday.
Being an only child, he’s always had birthday celebrations with his parents. Gifts and sparkly decorations were some of his nicest childhood memories, which he keeps close to his chest.
Yamaguchi never expected anything grandiose from his group of friends– a happy birthday text or two, Hinata loudly yelling about it to their first years and urging them to ‘Say happy birthday to captain Yamaguchi!!’, or maybe something equally as embarrassing to some classmate or another.
He thought his expectations were reasonable and super low– and maybe that mindset was why he was… sort of upset when no one acknowledged it was his birthday today.
In which Yamaguchi Tadashi took years to feel like someone that's worth being around, and appreciates the people that chose to stay.

There are two unchanging facts about Tsukishima Kei’s day.
One, his headphones, his pride and joy– broke. With almost a decade of having them in his possession, one might think they should've broken a long time ago.
Two, it was his birthday today.
Tsukishima got up, did his regular morning routine in the bathroom, went downstairs to have a simple breakfast as his mother wished him a happy birthday, and then he was off to go meet up with Yamaguchi to walk to school without the familiar weight of his headphones around his neck.
Today was gonna be hard.

Nagi loved Reo endlessly. It was written all over his face, all the time.
He thought it was obvious. Everyone said it was. If that was the case, why did they fall apart? Why was he sitting alone, without Reo? Why did this happen? Where had he gone wrong? Unanswered questions that wouldn’t die until the day Nagi did. Perhaps in the afterlife, he could meet Reo again and get the answers he always longed for. And maybe, he could kiss him just one more time.
