    “Don’t do that.” Jason snapped.

    “Do what?” Dick asked, raising an eyebrow

    “Try and play down what he did to you. If we’re going to do this, you need to stop putting everyone else ahead of you. You think I want him anywhere near you knowing he’s hit you unprovoked?” Jason said, his voice sharp.

    And okay, yeah, Dick could see how that came across and he knew he’d be throwing a fit if Jason tried to pull the same.

    “I know, I’m sorry. It’s just- It’s just a habit at this point.” Dick admitted.

    “God, I think we all need to talk to Dinah or some other therapist. Bruce fucked us all up.” Jason said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

    Jason did have a scar across the left side of his neck; a clean cut that had been messily stitched back together. From the way it looked, Dick could tell it had been deep enough to slice through his jugular and carotid and it was a miracle Jason had survived it. The way Jason flinched the only time Dick had run his fingers over the left side of his neck was enough to make Dick pay attention to it and make sure not to touch it again.

    Jason's already inside waiting for him, sprawled out in front of the lit fireplace and licking blood off his paws. He looks up as Dick walks in and his tail starts wagging.

    Dick knows the look Jason’s giving him, so he turns to look in the basket by the door and sure enough there's a whole human hand in there. Dick huffs out a laugh. It is useful. Enemies bones can be used in a lot of spells, and hand bones are easier to grind up than most others.

    "I swear you're actually part cat."

    “So, are we talking like a full Dracula situation, or like a Twilight situation? Because they’re completely different scenarios.” Jason says, trying to suppress the urge to laugh hysterically because while there were a lot of things he was prepared for tonight, this was absolutely not one of them. Haley continues winding around his ankles, trying to get his attention, but Jason can’t shift his focus from Dick right now.

    Dick gives him a scathing look from where he’s sat on the floor on the other side of the room, still looking like he’s ready to bolt out of the window if Jason tries getting any closer.

    “You can give me that look all you want, but I think it’s a relevant worry. Like are you going to need to sleep in a coffin or shit like that? What exactly do I need to know here?” Jason asks, shifting very slowly further into the room, not missing the way Dick’s eyes are tracking him with an unnatural precision.
