Summary
They call it a game. But Princess Elaenys Velaryon knows it is not a game, and if it was it was a dangerous one. One wrong step means the delicate thread that ties her new husband to her mother’s side should a war break out, to the Black side rather than the Green, is broken. But in matters of the body, of life and death, and loyalty: lines were due to blur. She anticipates it. Resigns herself to it.
If he wanted obedient: she would give it. If he wanted piousness, Elaenys would give it. She would give anything if it meant her family was safe. Elaenys just does not anticipate that the richest man on their side of the world, the most powerful man without a Dragon, a man who prided himself on his faith and his seat…was just as depraved as he claimed they were.

Gwyn is eighteen when Hightower riders corner her father at a river crossing and haul them both to Oldtown. She expects a dungeon cell. Instead, she gets a house by the harbor, a servant to heat her bath, and Lord Ormund Hightower in her bed three nights a week.
She hates him, and she has every reason to.
But Gwyn possesses something Ormund wants more than gold: a memory that never loses a single word. At first, he keeps her near for that gift. Then, he keeps her near because he can’t seem to stop. These are two very different problems that share the same face.
When he marches to war for the Greens, she travels with the column. Her father is still trapped in the cells beneath the Hightower. Or at least, that is what she believes.

You were new to the city, working a job at the Presidential hotel as a front desk receptionist. Every day you see the same FBI agents coming in and leaving, but one in particular was of interest to you. He never spoke to anyone.
Friendliness turns into obsession and stalking. Dex needs to learn more about you; the girl with an elusive past that you never want to talk about. Both are trying to fill a void, but neither know who they're really dealing with.
