Summary
[AU] A misunderstood sentiment behind an “heir for a day” comment gets Daemon sent out of King's Landing. Realizing that his brother would never trust him fully or recognize him as his heir, Daemon decides to quit while he is ahead. He leaves for the Free Cities to start a new life, and as he does so, he takes his favourite golden cloak with him.
Fast forward five years. A new power is rising in the Stepstones, taking control of all the trade routes across the Narrow Sea. And Daemon Targaryen comes back to court once again, now the man of his own making with a spouse and children in tow.

Summary
He shouldn’t have been at the Dursleys. Hogwarts was supposed to be his home, like every year, but the Ministry’s reach had grown long and spiteful. Between the Dementor attack in the summer and his “outbursts” about Voldemort, Umbridge, holding the power that no one should have granted her, had decided that a mandatory Christmas break at his legal guardians’ residence was the best way to ‘stabilize’ his mental state.
There was a lesson in hunger, certainly. But it wasn’t a lesson about kindness.

Harry swallowed, his throat dry. The thought of the piece of the Dark Lord’s soul that was completely fused with his own always left him feeling a little dizzy; he would never refer to being a Horcrux as a mistake. Especially when it was that ‘wrong’ soul that kept Voldemort alive. “Only that I succeeded, my Lord.”
