“Kyojuro..?” Akaza calls.
He gets no answer.
In a sudden impulse he lifts his other hand to the slayer’s forehead, brushing stray strands away and pressing the back of his fingers against the skin; he finds it slightly clammy and hot to the touch. He knows it isn’t normal, that Kyojuro’s body isn’t supposed to run this warm.
“Kyojuro,” Akaza calls again. “You’re not well.”

Summary
Protecting the weak had always been the one principle that Kyojuro had lived by, etched into his mind from the time he had been nothing but a boy.
Never had he thought that it would drive him to getting himself turned into the very thing he had sworn to destroy.Just as he had never thought it possible that the very demon that had tried to kill him, would emerge on his journey with him. Not only to regain his former life, but also to find a way to destroy the evil at the root of it all.
As the line between hate and love keeps blurring, the Hashira soon has to make a decision whether he can really trust the Upper Moon, or if maybe Akaza is just following his very own goals after all.

He moves to the one closest next, redoing that same discovery, learning a pattern he already knows by heart. His fingers shift as the body below moves, muscles rippling under the skin, and then Akaza is turning to face him.

For a few moments, they stare at each other before a slow realization dawns on Akaza’s face. He takes a couple of steps back. “Come here.”
Before Kyojuro even knows what he’s doing, his feet are carrying him forward, one step, two steps, three, stopping only when he’s standing right in front of Akaza. The shadow of concern behind his eyes has dissipated into something else entirely. His smile is all teeth, satisfied and a touch devious.
“So that’s what the Blood Demon Art does,” Akaza says.

The lump of blankets wracks itself with another coughing fit, and unthinking of his fear, Akaza reaches out. (To what? Help? Soothe? Save? He is a demon. Such concepts are anathema. And yet, it's Kyojuro.
