“You already have my affection, Kakavasha.” Ratio sighs softly, a flicker of sadness that the other was so riddled with distrust for the universe that he didn’t know this. “You have it. Forever and longer, if you so wish.”
Ratio’s long night of grading papers is interrupted by a familiar and welcomed presence. The troubles of Aventurine’s work-life are hardly enough to prevent him from falling into Ratio’s steady hands and making wishes on stars.

Anaxagoras slips his arms around the mer’s shoulders, feeling those strong muscles—used for swimming so fast in unknown depths—twitch under his touch. “Mate with me, then.” He says, tilting his chin with an unfaltering gaze.
Mydei stares at him for a long moment. Baffled, almost. “Leave.” He tries again, but it’s a weak attempt with the way he was eyeing Anaxa with such hunger.
“I shall not.”
Mydei growls again, something harsh and frustrated. But whatever self control he had been maintaining was clearly falling beyond his grasp. “Anaxagoras-“
“It’s alright.” He assures patiently, ignoring the shiver that runs up his spine at the way Mydei said his name. Low, desperate, eager. He slips a hand to cup the other’s cheek, meeting his gaze with determination and a quiet thrill. “Mate with me.”
Mydei is a merman, recently taken in by an aquarium after being washed ashore with a severe injury.
Anaxa is a staff member, fascinated enough that he barely hesitates to… help when the Mer enters an unexpected rut.

He downed his glass before he slammed it down on the counter. Flins watched with avid eyes as he brought a hand up to his mouth and with a languid tongue, Varka licked the remnants of fire-water from his calloused fingers.
Yes, Flins thought with a smile of his own, one he hid in the high collar of his cape. One can certainly understand the appeal, Grandmaster.
or, varka has sharp teeth and too sweet a scent when it's not overpowered by guilt. flins has sharper teeth and a hunger to match.

The Regrator is a jealous creature, ill-inclined to share with others, but he will share this with the Captain. The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
“Could you not wait ten minutes?” Capitano asks him. His voice is stern, but Pantalone is familiar enough with him to recognize the faint note of amusement lacing the words. “You broke the rule we agreed to. I will have to punish you for it later.”
