Long before Juniperclaw was the first "border guardian" between the Dark Forest and StarClan, both afterlives agreed that a guard should be established alongside the StarClan-Dark Forest border. To avoid bias for either side, it was agreed that the border guardians should be the kits of StarClan and Dark Forest parents. Patchblossom, who had grown up in RiverClan after the death of his mother Mapleshade and his sisters Petalkit and Larchkit in a flood, was unanimously chosen as one of the first border guardians.

Cat AU: Heatwave could handle AllSpark Day in general—the exchange of stories, the crowds, the Parade of Metals, the pointed stares, even the Festival of Primes—but he could not handle the Gathering of Sparks. He could cope with hearing everyone else hail Optimus Prime’s name during the Festival of Primes as the savior of the Great War and everything he had sacrificed to restore Cybertron. But he couldn’t bear to see his guardian's—his sire’s—spirit. Just the thought of it sent a wave of despair through his entire frame.

Set a quarter-moon after the end of The Broken Code arc. Duststar of WindClan and Emberstar of RiverClan were some of the Clans’ earliest leaders, and they helped in the creation of the first rule of the foundational warrior code: Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle. However, recent unprecedented times for StarClan and the five Clans results in changes to the warrior code becoming a reality. Emberstar and Duststar debate about the reasons for these changes while discussing five half-Clan relationships: Cloudberry and Ryewhisker, Eaglestorm and Squirrelwhisker, Fallowtail and Reedfeather, Beechfur and Gorsetail, and Shellfur and Fernstripe.
