There’s enough drama and showmanship in his civilian life to see him through at least seven of his nine lives. He needs more stardom like he needs a hole in his head.
But unfortunately, balance there is and balance there will be.
He is the yin to her yang, the cheese to her souffle, Plagg reminds him. His importance is just as absolute.

“Maybe you could also try getting laid,” Lance continues, as if he’d noticed the tension in the air as well. He must’ve – there’s no way he hadn’t. The air is thick enough to choke them both.
“Oh, yeah, because everyone’s just lining up to get me to sleep with them,” Keith answers, heavy on the sarcasm. He’s hoping for a rebuttal, for a ‘well, I am’, for something to latch on to.
“Can’t be too hard for you to find someone with the way you look, man.” Lance vaguely gestures at him. “You just gotta open your eyes.”
or: Keith struggles with leading. Lance struggles with his sexuality. Hooking up solves none of those problems.

Keith stared at the doctor, pulse suddenly uneven beneath the monitor leads stuck to his chest. He asked the question even though the swirl in his gut told him he already knew. “…who?”
The doctor looked mildly surprised by the question and looked down at the file again before reading out the name. “Lance McClain?”
Everything inside Keith went very still very suddenly.

Keith wakes up on a strange planet he doesn't remember and is faced with a tight-lipped team that can't look him in the eye. His scattered memories show him nothing but blood and gore, and he's left with the understanding that things will never be the same again.

Now Lance has to deal with a younger, far more trusting version of the person he just had a massive argument with. For the first time, he gets a glimpse of the kid Keith was before he learned it was safer to shut everyone out.
