"No way. There is no fucking way" My breath came quicker as I grabbed the black backpack from beside the bed. "Come on, you have to have something in here with your name on it." I muttered to myself as I searched through the pockets.

There, in the small zipper pocket was a wallet. My hands shook as I read and re-read the name on the Driver's License.

Isabella Marie Swan. "Jesus Christ". I didn't remember being hit by a truck. Actually, I didn't remember anything specific happening before I woke up here. It was just a yawning, blank, nothing. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and tried as hard as I could to remember something. It felt like trying to remember a dream, but the flashing images didn't make sense and wouldn't stay long enough for me to make anything at all of them.

    Summary

Edward Cullen was a vampire: beautiful, unreadable, and visibly panicked around my father.

I wasn’t just human. I was half Meir’ha’dun. Not a mermaid, but something older. Colder. We evolved in the trench zones, with no scales, no shimmer, just seawater skin and bones that don’t break.

My eyes turn silver when I shift. My teeth can cut through fishbone and flesh. I wasn’t mythical; I was biological: wrong, real, and surfacing fast.

Myth makes monsters sound poetic. Biology just makes them real... and reality always comes with a cost.

I moved in with my father to escape the Phoenix heat and to hunt in the deep. Edward brought me a tuna sandwich and failed to dodge Charlie’s shameless innuendos.

A Twilight AU that mirrors canon’s pivotal moments, but tells a stranger story of its own.

    Summary

The same never ending cycle of numb, pain, loss, grief, numb, pain, loss, grief…over and over every time I close my eyes. Perhaps the worst of all is the fantasy I had conjured long ago, when I thought I’d get to stay with them forever: me, shimmering so bright in the midday sun, soaring through the forests with golden eyes. Strong, fast, inhumanely beautiful, and looking more like I belonged than I ever had. Now, I find that pushing it all back and instead embracing the sheer nothing of the numbness was so much easier in the long run.
However, so small that it was barely there, I could feel the start of something else. Like a single flickering flame in the middle of the soul crushing darkness. A crack had started to form in the fragile glass I kept everything locked in. Funny enough, I thought as I made my way up the stairs, it felt a lot like anger.

Picks up immediately following the depression months in New Moon.
