Summary
The Vienna Boys' Choir takes photographs well. People stop them in the street, always with a smile, always with the conviction they are photographing something extraordinary. They are not wrong. They are wrong about what it is.
Ludwig is twelve, a soprano in his third year, with fourteen months before his voice breaks and all of this ends. He is very good at treating this as a fact rather than a loss. He catalogs instead: voices, habits, the exact acoustic difference between an empty hall and a full one. He uses Schopenhauer when nothing else works.
He is getting less good at it.
