Summary
Sizhui had only ever seen Qishan in ruin, battle ravaged, picked over, and deserted for more than a decade. He'd traveled there with Uncle Ning after the events at Guanyin Temple.
The bustling marketplace in front of him was not the Qishan he knew. He would be hard pressed to identify it as Qishan at all if it weren’t for the white and red clad cultivators that he could see intermingled with the civilians, a sight that had been absent from the world for some fifteen years.
Or, Lan Sizhui, born Wen Yuan, wrestles with his heritage more literally than he ever expected to.

Summary
She could pick out her son’s stubborn, focused stance, and not far away, the whirlwind of unrestrained energy that was Wei Ying, recently dubbed Wei Wuxian, making the same forms look like a wild dance.
Another disciple made a misstep, tumbling into Wei Wuxian next to him. The two went down in a rambunctious cacophony of yells and laughter, a heap of growing, awkward limbs.
A small, sharp breath escaped Yu Ziyuan—not quite a laugh, not quite a sigh. She did not turn from the window.
“A foundation,” she echoed, her voice low. “Or a pyre. You see the light he casts. I see the shadows it attracts. You think you are building him a fortress. You are painting a target on his back and handing our son the bow.”
Or, what if Yu Ziyuan was a bit more of a responsible adult?
