Summary
Billy isn't quite sure how he ended up here: In a time and a world very different from his own, being worshipped as a living saint and (fake) married to the hottest little saint he had ever met. He's not complaining, though.

Summary
“Dr. Langdon,” Mel said.
He looked over at her. She was outside on her balcony too, wearing plaid pajama pants and an oversized t-shirt. Her hair was down.
“Frank,” he said.
“I haven’t seen you,” she said. She wrapped her arms around herself, hands hooked over her elbows.
“I’ve been laying low,” he said.
She looked up at the stars. He watched the pale line of her neck, the way her shoulders rolled back. She tucked her hair behind her ears and he watched that too. Mel had long, delicate fingers and pretty ears.
“Why?” Mel asked.
She’d come nearer to the railing between them and so as he spoke so did he. It was almost like they were on the same balcony, that way.
(Dr. Langdon disappears and Mel King gets a new neighbor.)

Summary
His lip is busted and actively bleeding; there's blood in his teeth, too. There's a deep gash above his eyebrow and the formation of a soon-to-be black eye around it. His hair is dishevelled, and his eyes look bloodshot, caused either by tears or something worse.
Frank meets her eyes, looking a little shy. He looks very small in this moment, so vulnerable. "I'm sorry. I didn't know where else to go."

Summary
Melissa King didn't notice when Frank Langdon became part of her routine.
It happened slowly.
Morning rides through Pittsburgh winters. Spare phone chargers in glove compartments. Post-shift boba runs. Inside jokes whispered over trauma alerts. His kids launching themselves into her arms without hesitation.
Then Dr. Cameron Grant asks her to dinner.
Everyone else can see exactly what's happening.
Frank is hopelessly, painfully in love with his best friend.
Mel just isn't sure why the thought of losing him hurts so much.

Summary
Mel and Frank have been doing a surprisingly good job keeping their relationship quiet.
Unfortunately, Mel is late for work, wildly distracted, and maybe not paying quite as much attention as she should be.
