Summary
Twilight took a deep breath, before blurting out, “I think I have a crush on you, have for a long time actually, I think — I’ve never had a crush before, at least, none that I’ve been aware of, so I'm really not sure — but if you’d be open to it, I’d really like to go out on a date sometime, like we could go out to the movies or get dinner or go to the library and read together or… something.”
At some point during her speech, she had squeezed her eyes shut, without even realizing it. So she slowly opened them then, nervous but hopeful at what she would find in front of her.
Sunset’s expression was nothing short of confused.
Twilight could almost hear her heart breaking into a million pieces. She wished she hadn’t opened her eyes. She almost wished she hadn’t even come over that morning.

"You're staring," Sunset said, keeping her voice low but firm, unnoticeable to anyone but the lovesick blonde.
Applejack jumped as if scalded, snapping her gaze back to her geography book with such force her pencil clattered to the floor. "Am not!" she hissed back, bending down to retrieve it, her cheeks instantly flooding with a deep, unmistakable crimson that spread from her neck to her temples. She straightened up, glaring defensively at Sunset. "Just listenin' to my friend is all. Payin' attention."
Sunset arched a perfectly sculpted eyebrow, a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips. She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I mean, she's my friend too, but I don't make goo-goo eyes and practically drool when she says 'darling'."

Summary
Celine quit drinking twice in her life.
The first time was because Mi-yeong begged her to stop (she didn’t need to beg. Celine wouldn’t have hesitated to lay down her life for Mi-yeong should she ask); the second was because Rumi needed her to be sober (and Mi-yeong would somehow torment her from the grave if she let her daughter die because Celine was just that horrendously irresponsible).
Celine doesn’t think she’ll be alive long enough to quit a third time.

Then, quietly, she hears Zoey ask, “How long?”
Well. This is harder than them just killing her, Rumi thinks. Maybe she shouldn’t be surprised, because Zoey has always enjoyed the hunt, performing each fight like it’s a sort of game of cat-and-mouse, and this is...the same thing, Rumi thinks. Just another demon to be dealt with.
“Rumi,” Mira presses, her voice closer than it had been.
Rumi almost wants to laugh. Great. The world’s worst cat-and-mouse game, where they’re apparently treating her like a friend before they kill her. That’s great. Celine would be so proud that they’re fulfilling all their hunter duties of taking care of each other while killing demons.
“Rumi, I need you to talk to me,” Zoey says, her voice getting a little more insistent. “Can you tell me how long you’ve had these?”
“Forever,” Rumi rasps out, because, well, they’ve caught her. She’s been effortlessly caught in a trap, and there’s no use trying to gnaw off her own arm to escape it. She’s tried before; her patterns exist beyond just branding on her skin.
(or, rumi's patterns are discovered early, and maybe that's not such a bad thing)
