Summary
The waves crashing against the shore did little to drown out his calls of her name, the words carrying through the wind to Mari who was beaming in the moonlight. Time seemed to slow for the two reuniting, oblivious to the rest of the world as Antonio tripped and skidded to a stop in a heap of limbs in front of the laughing mermaid.
Her cold fingers helped him get up and dust off any stray sand, the smile never once leaving her face as he whispered apologies in between peals of laughter. While the rest of the world surrounding them was dark and dreary, it seemed their happiness seemed to spread to the sky, bright colors dancing above them to a song only the stars knew.
Mari looked up and gasped in delight, hands fluttering at her side before tugging at Antonio’s coat to catch his attention, pointing eagerly up to the heavens above.
“There! Pretty sky ocean.”
“Wha-” Antonio gasped with wide eyes, in awe of the beauty before him.

It hurt. Like, really hurt and he didn't know what to do. It scared him.
Darkness began to creep in and around his vision, and he could feel his whole body shaking.
Warriors' grip on him had shifted by now to a strong arm around his bicep, and was likely the only reason he hadn't fallen over yet. The world was not spinning, but it definitely wasn't holding still for him.
Then his knees buckled and everything went sideways.

"What's wrong Legend?" The Captain roared. "Come at me Veteran! Come at me!!"
Pulling the rod before him, Legend had thrown all his body's swaying weight into the back of his right foot, both hands wrapped tightly over the magic rod as though it were a shield.
Warriors' bright and gleaming sword swung down as though hellfire had been rained over him, and Legend couldn't catch the wrenched out shout of agony as the impact had been fully absorbed by Ice Rod, and traveled straight up to his bleeding shoulder.
"Fight me like you mean it!" He screamed, another slash Legend was lucky enough to dodge.
Holding defense weakly, Legend kept tripping and stumbling backwards. His tired and sore legs buckling as his feet caught in any exposed roots and vicing weeds.
He held the Ice Rod in front of him, with no means to attack, with no means to fight back. Legend couldn't help but defend, defend, defend.
"Say it!!" Warriors demanded, and Legend shook his head silently.

Wild opened his mouth to say something but was overshouted by the sound of commotion from the other end of the street. Shouted orders from angry men and cries from civilians suddenly filled the air.
For a moment, Warriors couldn't see what had caused the chaos. Then, something pushing through the crowd of people caught his attention. Someone. Someone being chased by soldiers in green and blue armor like the ones at the entrance.
