He wanted to keep all of this forever: the warmth under the fabric roof of the pillow fort; the patter of the rain against the window panes; the drowned out sound of a Park Hyo Shin song murmuring from Jisung’s phone underneath the ruffled pile of blankets; the purple glow of the children’s fairy lights that managed to turn all of their physical vices into virtues. It would all be torn down in a few hours, this little world they’d made for themselves, and the universe would soon forget it, so for now they kissed, and their hands etched essays of endearment where they roamed, and they whispered each other’s names against swollen lips.
They’d make the universe wait to take this away.

noun 1. a demon supposedly attending and obeying a witch, often said to assume the form of an animal. 2. a close friend or associate.
Familiars weren't always seen as companions.
Decades ago, they were essentially slaves in the world of magical beings.
But ever since the law passed to protect and help these creatures, they've been loved in the change of the times.
Minho had always grown up with familiars of each shape and size, for his parents owned a building dedicated to taking care of the people. Being a soon-to-be apprentice at a sorcery college, where he, along with thousands of other freshmen, will receive their very own familiar. Although most are ecstatic, Minho couldn't be any more conflicted.
There was only one familiar he was especially connected to, one that he had been practically raised with.
The soft squirrel familiar that had been saved in an alley way on a rainy night.

Felix moved to Korea to study in university, because Australia is beautiful and he loves it, but spiders, and snakes, and if that’s not enough, all the bloody sea creatures out to off you the moment you step foot in the ocean.
To this day, he is still unsure whether moving was actually a good idea or not - his Korean was not the best, and he decided to study creative writing out of all possible majors (yes, stupid idea, moving on).
Although it’s much better now, there are days when he misses Australia with a force he didn’t realise was possible, and when he believes he made the stupidest mistake in the world moving to South Korea.Days like today, when he is struggling to get the words out on the page and his brain decides to stop cooperating and remain stuck in his default English setting, seemingly forgetting every single word of Korean he has struggled so much to learn.
The point of it, though, is that he spoke barely any Korean at the start of university, and his bubbly, extremely Australian personality didn’t blend very well with the general Korean lifestyle. Or population. Which is to say, he failed miserably at making friends.That was, until his roommate showed up.

Summary
It’s a cold evening when he first sees him, the new year not exactly kind in terms of the weather. Minho zips up his coat all the way, burying his nose behind his scarf as he waits for his bus home to arrive. He barely notices him waiting for the bus with him, too busy keeping himself warm while he waits, as it takes about ten minutes for the bus to arrive at this stop after the studio closes. Only when they get onto the bus does he spot the stranger.
A new face, a boy that looks about his age, with his scarf wrapped all the way over his nose, covering the cheeks that Minho will later learn are adorable.It starts out as a subtle curiosity, but will soon grow into something more.
OR: Jisung has been deaf/hard of hearing since he was born. Chan, his brother, has taken care of him for most of his life and became protective of Jisung after years of seeing him mistreated. When Minho takes an interest in Jisung, he wants to prove to Chan that he isn't like that.
