Robby flinched and averted his gaze further; he felt a surge of all the horrible feelings inside him wash over him, and the monitor's beeping stuttered.
Jack turned inward; he couldn't bear to look at Robby. This is the precipice; the liminal space where Before becomes After. There's no going back. It is out of his control.
