"“Are you telling me, Daeron,” Aerion said, voice lilting up in an amused manner, “that you have never found a girl attractive?”
Daeron’s face contorted as he bit his lip. What was there to feel?
“Not really,” he said at last. “Do you?”"
On a walk with Aerion, Daeron comes to a realization about himself: He does not find people attractive, and the very thought of sex makes him feel sick. The rumor that he frequents brothels is therefore that much crueler. Accepting himself would've been hard enough, even without the whispers claiming that he is the opposite of who he really is.
(Or, the asexual Daeron fic I've been meaning to write. Daeron's journey to self-acceptance would've been so much easier if Aerion wasn't such an awful person)

Typically, a courting occurs in two sidelong processes; an Alpha proving themselves, and an Omega preening.
An Alpha's worth is measured in gifts. The more expensive the better, if current advice from jewellery manufacturers and fashion advertisers and restaurants geared towards courting meals is to be believed. And yes, plenty of Omegas like ornamental things; an instinctual interest in shiny little decorations and trinkets to make a nest appealing to the senses; something to wear as a token of one being courted. Starts off the process, lets an Omega know that there’s interest there.
And all the while, Omegas are intended to make themselves as attractive as possible - pamper themselves with makeup and facials and filed teeth, preen, and sit pretty for an Alpha to protect.
Shouta, at seven years old, had listened to his mother describe the romance and flattering expense of a courting - and promptly wrinkled his small nose. At thirty-one, he’s got the word for it he was missing back then.
Bullshit.
Yagi's the first person he's met to think the same; or to be amenable to something - different.

... That was, until the night of the tieflings’ party, when Wyll’s hopes for friendship with Astarion went up in flames.

Wyll and Astarion express their attractions very differently. As a result, they misinterpret each other quite frequently. Some very frustrating miscommunication ensues.
