Caitlyn loves the routine of her life. Even if work is hectic, marriage isn't only sunshine, and raising a teen is nerve-racking, it's still something she appreciates every day for the joy it brings her. Rewarding in every sense in the grand scheme of things. Especially when she got to kick back on a sunny weekend, drink in hand, while she cheered on her daughter scampering around and appreciated the boundless enthusiasm of Vi getting adorably too invested along the sidelines. The only part she doesn't enjoy all that much is the way others appreciate Vi's presence as well.

Vi crushed up the water bottle, put it in her pocket, and started to head back down the hallway.
“You haven’t asked me if I did it,” Caitlyn said, and the swishing of the booties stopped, the creaking of the floorboards echoing with them. The sound familiar, but Vi’s weight added meaning to it that it hadn’t held in a decade - yet still flooded Caitlyn with memories.
“I don’t care,” Vi replied, softly.
