Summary
Stiles and Derek were meant for each other from the moment they met. It just took life a little longer to get it right.
[excerpt]:
Stiles was a seventeen-year-old boy with a more than healthy libido, okay? And Derek and Kate were arguably the most attractive people in the entire school, but… This was Derek. The star quarterback who also happened to be Stiles’ best friend. The guy who’d eaten an earthworm as a dare after Stiles watched Bear Grylls do it on TV. The person who would FaceTime Stiles at all hours of the night if Stiles couldn’t sleep. The friend who imagined faraway, out-of-this-world places and who wanted so many of the same things out of life, it was like he and Stiles shared the same brain, only better.Even though they’d talked about sex, Stiles had never thought of Derek in that way.
Until today.

Summary
Stiles is the enfant terrible of modernist cooking. Derek is San Francisco’s celebrated chef of haute cuisine. It’s bad enough their restaurants are within spitting distance of one another, but when they’re asked to scout out the next location for the International Food and Wine Festival, the Queso flameado isn't the only thing going down in flames.
[excerpt]:
“I can answer perfectly well, and no, I’m Mieczysław,” Stiles says, taking a step forward. “Stiles is my nickname, and it’s not that I think I’m the hottest shit—although I’m pretty fucking exceptional at what I do—but for one, our industry’s pretty small, and two, not only do we work in the same city, our restaurants are literally blocks apart. But I guess you live in your little bubble, so whatever.” Stiles has this hurt and angry look on his face that makes Derek think this is hardly whatever. But before he can apologize, Stiles barrels on. “Anyway, I don’t need to rely on gimmicks or nepotism to make a name for myself, so you can stop that pretentious, entitled line of thinking right now.”“Oh, shit,” Jackson and Lydia say in the same breath.
Derek couldn’t agree with them more.
