    Summary

Her resolve was to be invisible, and not let the world see what a true failure she really was.

One bad evening, one bad mistake, one moment she should've thought through. She's waking up on a large soft bed, not her own, the smell was completely masculine. Her friends were gone, a bruise around her arm, the memory of being grabbed roughly and forced behind a large body, an angry New Yorker. The room is silent, save the light under a door, and the smell of 'pancakes?' A styrofoam to-go container on the inn-table next to her on the bed labeled "Y/N". Behind the door, a familiar voice arguing with someone. She'd never been terrified and hungry at the same time before.

Raphael: Three months of keepin' a low profile, blown. 'Great'. Now she's in his bed, bruised, and he want's nothin' more than to either break someones head, or break the bed. His sis in law keeps insisting some law of attraction, destiny, sychronicity bullshit about Y/N bein' the 'soul-mate' he asked for, during a drunk game night of cards. This was the real world, 'fairy tale, disney princess shit doesn't exist, this aint shrek'.So why was he tucking this woman into his bed, making sure she was warm, and picking up breakfast for her.

[...]The King of Durin's folk turned towards the hallway, finding Ailah's bright eyes blocking his way.
The white-haired girl had the impulse to retreat.
"And you, lass, who would you be?"
He hadn't used a so friendly manner, if anything, annoyed or even distrustful.
    "What are you?"
Taken aback by the sudden question, she opened her mouth muttering nonsense words, trying to remember the false origins that the Grey Pilgrim had told her to use as a background.
"Well, I...I'm a daughter of men and-" She searched for Gandalf's approval.
"Gandalf asked me to lend you a hand, so-" She made a slight bow before finishing, getting up in a small jump.
"At your service!" She smiled at her best.
Thorin frowned at the wizard, whispering a tight-lipped “This must be a joke.”
