ei makes a miscellaneous sound of acknowledgement (it sounds like love, it sounds like love, it sounds like love-) and paimon seems to find his two words satisfactory, for she floats beside the traveller as they start to leave.
he follows, but the back of his neck is itching. he walks, but it itches, itches, itches. he reaches back with one hand and scrapes it.
eyes on his neck, eyes on his neck, eyes not in but on-
ei is- is ei-
hand still on his neck, he turns around.
she's looking at him.

Summary
Three years ago, CyberLife lost their RK800 prototype before anyone even knew it existed.
Three years ago, Connor Clark, Private Investigator, opened up a practice in Detroit.
Now in August, 2038, CyberLife hires PI Clark and the DPD to investigate deviant androids before it's too late.
(Not a canon rewrite - all new cases.)
--
"Have you investigated any malfunctioning androids before, Mr. Clark?”
“No.” Connor frowns, continuing to tap at the screen. “Stolen and damaged androids, and a couple involved in ownership disputes, but not deviants.” He shrugs. “I have no experience in this matter, Lieutenant.”
There’s something off about the stiff way Connor holds himself that Hank can’t quite place. He wants to press for more, getting the feeling that there’s more insight somewhere in Connor’s head, but he holds his tongue. The man might just be anxious, not a liar. “What was that you called them?” he asks instead. “Deviants?”
"That’s the word CyberLife’s Ms. Fredericks used. These errors could tear down their company.”
“So this isn’t about lives, this is about corporate interests.”
Connor smiles thinly. “Did you expect anything different?”
