Summary

She doesn't need friends, or love, or anything else the Affini might use to corrupt her. It will all be worth it if she can just fight hard enough.
Cypress Amaranthia, First Bloom, is a xenosophont intake manager on an Affini rescue ship. She's happy to help hook other Affini up with pets, even though she hasn't taken any on herself. This is how she can help the most people, which is far more important than any personal issues she might be dealing with. She doesn't need to address the aching emptiness in her own life if she's bringing happiness to others.
When she decides that Holly is one of the people she needs to bring happiness to, things get complicated fast.
