Summary
An AU that takes place after the events of Transformers One. When the fighting placed Cybertron in danger, both sides entered an uneasy truce. Now, Optimus Prime leads the new high council next to Megatron's empty seat. The decepticon leader having vanished from the public eye.
Optimus doesn't understand why he’s been abandoned again.
Megatron thinks he’s sparing his love from even more pain.

And that’s why he was back here. The pull of that warm, fuzzy feeling felt intoxicating. Orion obviously didn’t expect it, if he did, he probably would have tried to capture it, then store it into a precious part of his mind for easy access. But now, he has resorted to this. It shouldn’t be hard — again, it’s not like he hasn’t done it before — but this felt different. Such a breach of privacy with his best friend felt wrong. But was anything Orion doing ever right? He slacked off work, breached archives, sold sensitive information, forged contraband… Orion erased the moral part of his programming a long time ago. He couldn’t even remember if he had one to begin with.
So why was this so difficult?
[My own Transformers: Shattered Glass AU, modeled upon Transformers One, with Orion Pax and D-16 swapped in roles. This AU is largely contributed with art and ramblings in equal parts with Ornith and Joan (@ornithyristor & @harquebuse respectively on twt) who have basically been my cheerleaders whilst I wrote this.]

Summary
It has been years and Megatron is still bedevilled by Orion Pax, just as much as Optimus is haunted by the memory of D-16.
Despite their efforts to bury these bygone selves, their pasts can resurface in twisted ways and when a sudden, unexpected explosion traps them both in a cave, they are forced to confront this inner conflict--though they fail at it miserably.
