Severus goes to plead his case to the Dark Lord for the sake of Dumbledore, the Order, and a child that he hated. He has nothing but knowledge to barter to continue to be a secret spy. And Voldemort well… he isn’t easily pleased or fooled. Things go as bad as they can go and his only hope is to play along until he can get an opening. He doubts that Albus or the others care enough to save him.
“Such pretty words for a liar.” The crimson lips nearly brushed against his cheek and Severus shivered. “What punishment do you think fits a traitor?”
