Summary
Continuation of my story "The Thread."
Zim is determined not to cower on Earth after the terrible revelation he had on Irk. Against Dib's advice, Zim plans to return to his home planet to rebuild the Empire in his image. The two work together in preparation to leave, building on their tenuous trust, but their window of opportunity is fast closing. All the while, unbeknownst to Zim and Dib, the clock isn't the only thing they need to beat.A fledgling, not-enemies/not-friends to actual-friends kind of story.

Zim's little fists closed tightly in front of his chest, trembling slightly. And then, with his eyes impossibly large, Zim watched his thin, pointed fingers open delicately one by one, like a deadly, rare orchid blooming.
"But now that wouldn't really matter, would it? Dib?"
