Edging closer to someone is really scary, as is admitting emotions as an adult. Especially when those emotions feel childish. Tony Stark may not shy away from hot chocolate, or from using it as a means of distracting a curious God of Mischief from asking uncomfortable questions, but that's about as childish as he is willing to get.

Summary
When the time comes to pass sentence on Loki after the events in The Avengers, Odin decides to go for the poetic justice angle. For his attempt to enslave humanity, Loki has his magic and powers bound, and is sent back to Midgard and given over to Tony Stark to be his slave.
This was not a turn of events Tony had ever seen coming.
