Her love, however, did not stop her beloved charges from dying. The hard truth of it was that not every child was loved. Not every child was cherished. And when one of her older children, Albus, had taken the helm of her school, too many others had paid the price, for he was willfully blind to any pain her babies were enduring.
She watched as Albus ignored and systematically decimated any hope left in the eyes of her babies. All that came to an end when a waif of a child walked through her doors.

Harry’s home life? Not great. His pleas for help having gone unheard forced him to keep things hidden. If only he knew that Hogwarts and an old Barmy phoenix were going to destroy the world to save him.

Being adopted as a baby sadly means she has no idea what type of creature if so.
- Harry keeps finding himself sneaking into Hermione’s bed at night, curling up next to her as she cocoons them with pillows and blankets. He figures they can ignore it for now, as long as Ron doesn't find out. It is after all the only way he can sleep.As Luna takes actions so Harry has to watch Hermione get tortured by Bellatrix, Hermione does her best not to scream and give Bella the satisfaction of weaponizing her against her best friend. Hermione eventually breaks, the pain and pressure becoming too much, letting out a loud and piercing sound as something within her cracks. Who will answer her soulscream? And what happens to Harry?

It’s an AU and in the great tradition of fan-fiction writers, I’ve taken what I want to fit the story I wanted to read. About a seventeen year old Harry in his eleven year old body, and I wanted to see what chaos he might generate given what he knew was waiting for him.
(And I decided I liked Dorea Black for James Potter’s mother, it suited the narrative better.)
