She shoved her phone into her bag and hastily stood up. “You probably won’t get any visitors tonight, it’s almost time for the hospital to shut that down.” Lori went straight to the door but paused. “I hope you got that out of your system, Niall.”
She looked over her shoulder at her son before exiting the room. He should feel guilt, shame, embarrassment but there was a nagging pull that disregarded those emotions. It’s like they were turned off and new, danger emotions were turned on.
