Summary
This is the rewrite of Love Like You. PLEASE NOTE: Rohan is aged up in this fic.
The mangaka looked down at the girl, finding her staring at him. Her distance was kept, clear that she still didn’t quite trust him. That was understandable; Rohan was even surprised that she wasn’t having a meltdown. It must be traumatizing for the nine-year-old to be separated from her mother and dumped off to a complete stranger.
But Rohan was going to show her that everything will be alright.
Just like before, Rohan knelt to her height and held out his hand. (Y/n) hesitated once again, but this time, she fully accepted his offer, putting her tiny hand into the palm of his. A little bit of the tension that (Y/n)’s body and mind held vanished, thanks to Rohan’s touch. It was warm; soft; and most importantly, safe.
“Come on, I’ll take good care of you. I promise.”

Josuke’s entire demeanor softened like a sigh. He tenderly pried (Y/n)’s hands off her face, tucked a piece of hair clinging to her tear-stained cheek behind her ear, and embraced her, where she wept further into his shoulder. “No, (Y/n)...I’m the one who owes you an apology. I never should have lost my cool with you the way I did, no matter how…”
“No matter how…?”
His signature pompadour was now a curtain of messy, violet locks draping to his shoulders, hence why he had no hesitation in running a shaking hand through it. “...I’ve been in countless situations where I’ve been on the brink of death, or had loved ones killed before my eyes, and yet, I’ve never felt this terrified in months, when I thought you were…”
The vision of hours ago was still fresh; he opened his eyes to paint a picture of reality, a portrait of life, and it took (Y/n) caressing his cheek, brushing away a tear from his eye, and presenting a smile that fluttered his heart to ease him.
“And how can I call myself Morioh's protector if I nearly lost the girl I fell in love with?”

Gonta Gokuhara and his lovely newlywed wife, (Y/n), lived in a little cottage in the woods, where they were surrounded by neighbors of all kinds: there were the vainglorious butterflies, dancing down from their leafy apartments in the oaken skyscrapers to win the jealousy of even the most glorious flowers around, and there were the spiritual mantises who would pray for monsoons during the driest of droughts, just to name a couple. Gonta and (Y/n) could not ask for anything more, for memories blossomed within the seasons of the year, leading to the greatest miracle of all.
