Summary
"A sour taste of bile crawled up Yoshiki’s throat. He could not bring himself to open his mouth, not even to draw breath, terrified that he would be sick. A deep sense of unreality settled over him. This did not feel like his own body or his own life. It felt like he was watching from a distance as another person's world fell to pieces.
This wasn't supposed to happen. It wasn't supposed to end like this, not after they had come this far. He couldn't bear it alone.
Yoshiki’s trembling hand stroked Hikaru’s face in a twisted, desperate caress. He whispers, his voice raw as if his throat had been torn to shreds: "I'll fix this, okay? Everything will be alright. It'll pass."
He clutches Hikaru's corpse and wraps his arms around it, as if the embrace could absolve him of his sins.
"I'll take it all away."
- Yoshiki and Hikaru are two young scientists in the mid-1850s, dedicated to an impossible project: bringing life from death. It doesn't go as planned.
Or, a reinterpretation of Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein (2025) with The Summer Hikaru Dies. [This is just an AU and a fan-made work. I am not the creator or owner of these characters.] -

Summary
"Yoshiki and Hikaru had always been an almost. He almost told Hikaru the main reason he felt so out of place in that small town. He almost told him what he felt. He almost considered insisting on asking Hikaru what he would do on the mountain, the same day he'd said he was going there. He almost had a future where he could grow up alongside him. Not in the way he longed for, not with that feeling he could only describe as a mix of desire, guilt, and something he couldn't know. But still, it was almost something.
He almost achieved it, with his arm stretched out and touching it with his fingertips, never quite able to grasp it.
Every morning he woke with this feeling of having almost achieved something, anything. And every morning, a kind of ravenous fear built in his stomach, wondering if sooner or later someone would discover the abomination walking beside him - worse, the one he'd let walk beside him. The creature wearing his best friend's face like someone wearing clothes that are too tight."
Or Yoshiki doesn't know the feeling of grief as well as he thought he did. 'Hikaru' shows that maybe he doesn't know "yearn" either.

Summary
"Bagi comforts her until her tears dry. They remain silent for minutes on end until Tina says: - Do you...do you want to talk about your brother? About Cellbit?
Bagi thinks carefully. The short answer is no, she doesn't want to. These are too complicated feelings, and she doesn't want to get it all out of her chest. She just doesn't want to. But she knows that if she doesn't do it now, she never will again. And that would be unfair. The old version of her dedicated her entire life to finding him. Letting this die in silence would be cruel to herself, the current version and the past version of her. Mainly, it won't be fair to the child version who was so desperate when your beloved brother disappeared.
Bagi sighs heavily: - I... I have such a strange jumble of feelings - she laughs awkwardly.
Tina looks at her: - You don't have to talk if you don't want to.
- No, no, no. I need to talk. The old me spent my whole life on this, I owe it to my old version, I owe it to her."
Or, Bagi and Tina finally leave Quesadilla Island. Now it's time to deal with what they went through. It's a long road to healing.

Summary
"Cellbit had found that...damn name in the middle of his investigations and it hurt. It made him remember things he didn't want, things he hesitated to think about and he hadn't yet digested. So he went and drowned himself in work, why not? Just do what you know how to do and not feel anything. Roier had already followed his periods of obsessions, but not such a strong depressive one. He had never seen his boyfriend like this, so of course he was worried - not scared, Roier never gets scared, no matter how much dirt Cellbit shows him -, of course he tried to do something. After all, Roier is good. He is concerned, attentive. He is different from absolutely every person on Earth.
And Cellbit reacted in the most idiotic way possible"
Or Cellbit, in his work as a detective, ends up dealing with a sensitive topic that triggers a depressive crisis. He deals with it in the worst way possible, but Roier takes care of him. Cellbit learns that there is nothing like being taken care of by someone special to remember that, in the end, we are loved.

Summary
"Do you want to try feeling inside me again?" Hikaru asks, eyes bright.
"Would I learn anything new, doing it again?" Yoshiki asks a little skeptically. He has tried it twice already, and if anything, he understands Hikaru less.
"Probably not," Hikaru says, but he hasn't moved, and his eyes remain fixed on Yoshiki.
Yoshiki knows that it would be colossally stupid. He's messing with things he doesn't understand, and he doesn't really need Kurebayashi's warnings to know it's dangerous for himself and those around him. He worries that with each brush against whatever lies beneath Hikaru's skin, he loses more of his humanity, that someday he'll be corrupted beyond recognition.
And yet, a part of him wants.
…
In which Yoshiki takes a break from research to try touching Hikaru again.

Summary
“Have you considered the possibility that Neil has chosen you, but believes you have not chosen him?” Renee says. "Have you ever explicitly told him what you want?”
“Neil knows what I want,” Andrew snaps. This is not Andrew’s fault.
“How do you know?”
Because Neil always knows. He is as fluent in Andrew’s micro-expressions as he is in German and French. He knows which head tilts mean “go on” and which ones mean “shut up.” Without ever asking, he learned what it meant to see Andrew wearing double layers of long sleeves, or taking multiple showers in a day, and learned to hand Andrew the car keys.
That has always been the most terrifying thing about Neil — his patience to wait, watch, listen, learn. The prospect that if Neil were given enough time, there would be no part of Andrew that was just Andrew’s anymore.
“He has to know,” Andrew says.
“Does he?” Renee says. “Have you ever known Neil to assume that he is wanted?”
Five times Neil tells someone that he and Andrew aren’t dating, and one time Andrew uses his words to set the record straight.
