I don’t think it was ever mentioned that Meliodas and Zeldris had a mom and weren’t just created directly by the Demon King, but I’m a firm believer they did have a mother—she just "disappeared" under some weird circumstances.
I mean, it’s pretty much certain they had a mother, and she spoiled them a lot when they were little kids—even when they were already strong, she kept doting on them. Back then, the Demon Realm had some level of peace because she managed to keep the Demon King in check. But everything fell apart when she suddenly disappeared. That’s when Meliodas became emotionally distant, Zeldris shut himself off, and the Demon King lost what little sanity he had left, turning completely cruel
I mean, this is just my headcanon.
